from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The farm is isolated about 300 m west of the settlement of Ballymeanach on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . The next larger town is Portnahaven, about a kilometer south . On July 20, 1971, the farm was added to the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B.

description

The former farmhouse does not correspond to the typical island construction. While Historic Scotland sees it as architecturally borrowed from the construction in the Highlands , the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland sees it as the usual style on the Isle of Skye . The building was built from quarry stone in the 18th century. It is one-story and ends with a thatched gable roof . The interior is divided into two rooms. The usual chimneys can be found on the gables.

Today the house is in a ruinous condition. The outer walls are largely preserved, but the roof has collapsed. The building is owned by a farmer named Ferguson , who uses it to store hay. When the house was abandoned and fell into disrepair is not recorded.
