Ballymeanach , also Balmenach or Balmonnach , is a small village on the Scottish island of Islay and is therefore in the Council Area Argyll and Bute or the traditional Scottish county Argyllshire . The village is located in the south of the Rhinns of Islay peninsula , about one kilometer north of Portnahaven and nine kilometers southwest of Port Charlotte . It can be reached via a single-lane road that runs from Portnahaven through the sparsely populated area of the peninsula via Kilchiaran to Port Charlotte.
The rural village of Ballymeanach consists of only a few inhabited buildings. Current census data are not available. In 1841 there were 30 inhabitants in Ballymeanach, who were divided into five families. There is a listed farm in Ballymeanach .
