Construction equipment operator is a German training occupation according to the Vocational Training Act .

The construction equipment operator operates construction equipment such as cranes , bulldozers , concrete pumps and excavators and transports or guides construction equipment on public roads. Both construction companies and construction vehicle manufacturers train construction equipment operators.
As in all construction trades, construction equipment operators are less employed in winter than in summer, as the use of many construction equipment also depends on the weather.
Previously common, now less common is the so-called "lubrication hour". It was (and is partly still today) an integral part of the workday of a construction equipment operator. During this lubrication lesson, the construction equipment operator checks the function of all essential parts on the machine and carries out minor maintenance work independently.
Until 1994, this profession was legally reserved for men only.
education
The training period to become a construction equipment operator is 3 years in Germany. The remuneration is initially around € 675 and an average of € 1120 in the third year of training.
Tasks and areas of application
In addition to the transport and operation of heavy construction equipment, the securing of construction sites and the preparation of work sketches are part of the field of responsibility of a construction equipment operator. Typical applications are the high - low -, road, horticulture and landscaping.
