Bayano dam

Coordinates: 9 ° 10 '31 "  N , 78 ° 53' 2.4"  W The Bayano dam is a dam of Rio Bayano in the province of Darien in Panama , of the Bayanosee dams. It was built in 1976, about 350 km² of rainforest were flooded and thousands of native people were resettled . The dam is the second largest power plant in Panama and produces most of the electricity for Panama City .

The installed capacity of the power plant is 260 MW . The average annual production fluctuates: it was 330 million kWh in 2003 and 754 million kWh in 2000 .
