The Bayenthaler SV (BSV) was a sports club from the Bayenthal district of Cologne . The soccer team of the sports club played one year in the first-class Gauliga Köln-Aachen . In 1948 the BSV merged with the newly founded SC Fortuna Köln .
history
The BSV was founded in 1920 after a spin-off from SV Victoria Köln . Until the early 1940s, the sports club only played in the lower divisions. In 1943 he was promoted to the first-class Gauliga when the BSV prevailed together with the Kohlscheider BC in the promotion round against TuRa Bonn . The only first division season in the club's history ended in seventh place.
In 1946 the soccer team of the BSV played in the so-called "Round of Renegades" who wanted to found their own licensed players' league. The BSV was third behind VfR Cologne and Alemannia Aachen . The team was thus qualified for the then second-class Rheinbezirksliga . With a view to the financial challenges and greater supra-regionality, the BSV merged in 1948 with SV Victoria Köln and SV Köln in 1927 to form SC Fortuna Köln.
