The Bayerische Ärzteversorgung is the professional compulsory pension institution for doctors , dentists and veterinarians who are professionally active in Bavaria . It was founded in 1923, making it the oldest pension fund in Germany. It grants its members and their surviving dependents pension benefits in the form of old-age , occupational disability and survivors' benefits .
history
Bayerische Ärzteversorgung was founded in 1923, because at that time the statutory pension insurance could not ensure the care of doctors, dentists and veterinarians as well as members of all other professions and the global economic crisis and inflation after the First World War had practically completely devalued private provision . As Germany's oldest and largest pension fund of all professional pension funds for members of the collective liberal professions, Bayerische Ärzteversorgung belongs to the structured system of social security in Germany. The professional pension funds represent a type of pension of its own kind, which stands independently in addition to the other compulsory pension systems (in particular the statutory pension insurance) and the forms of voluntary provision (in particular life and pension insurance). The umbrella organization of all professional pension funds is the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Berufsständischer pensioneinrichtungen e. V. (ABV).
Area of responsibility
The Bayerische Ärzteversorgung is the professional compulsory pension institution for doctors, dentists and veterinarians who are professionally active in Bavaria. In addition, Bayerische Ärzteversorgung is also responsible for doctors in the former administrative districts of Palatinate and Rheinhessen in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, for dentists in the former administrative district of Palatinate in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and for veterinarians in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
Legal duty
The statutory task of Bayerische Ärzteversorgung is to provide its members and their surviving dependents with benefits in the form of old-age, occupational disability and survivors' benefits.
membership
By law, all physicians, dentists and veterinarians who are not incapable of working and who are authorized to practice their profession are compulsory members of Bayerische Ärzteversorgung if they are professionally active in the field of activity of Bayerische Ärzteversorgung (§§ 15 ff of the articles of association of Bayerische Ärzteversorgung).
Employed members of the Bayerische Ärzteversorgung are usually also compulsorily insured in the statutory pension insurance. You can, however, be exempted from compulsory insurance in the statutory pension insurance ( Section 6 (1) sentence 1 no. 1 SGB VI ).
Mandatory contributions are to be paid for the period of membership. The obligation to contribute usually ends with the insured event. Members who do not earn any income from medical, dental or veterinary work are free of charge. 70,489 doctors, 11,397 dentists and 8,129 veterinarians were members in 2015.
