Irgersdorf lies on a sunny hillside at the foot of the Teufelskanzel (463 m). The topmost houses on the edge of the forest are 50 m higher than the houses on the street. This village stream, whose sources are in Tautewalde , flows through Wilthen and flows into the Spree at Rodewitz .

history

The oldest document that mentions the place Irgersdorf comes from the year 1420. Irgersdorf appears there under the name Ergirstorf . Ten years later, the name Erichsdorff can be found in documents for the place . It is assumed that Irgersdorf was founded from the Wilthen manor house and was occupied by Sorbian farmers. Since the hunter of the Wilthener landlord also probably lived in Irgersdorf and tended the game, the name Jägersdorf can also be found for the place.

According to Arnošt Muka's statistics on the Sorbian population of Lusatia, Irgersdorf still had a stable Sorbian majority in 1884. Of a total of 108 inhabitants, 96 were Sorbs (89%) and only 12 were Germans. In the first half of the 20th century, the Sorbian language was lost in the village.

Since 1936 the place belongs to the city of Wilthen .
