Bavarian State Institute for University Research and Planning

The Bavarian State Institute for Higher Education Research and University Planning ( IHF ) in Munich in 1973 by the Free State of Bavaria founded to expand the education sector since the late 60s -years scientific support.

Its task is to carry out research work on current university policy fields, which provide the State Ministry for Science, Research and Art , the Bavarian State Parliament and the universities with concepts, information and decision-making bases. This also includes advice and support for Bavarian universities.

The research work of the institute is laid down every year in a work program that is coordinated with the Bavarian Ministry of Science. The scientific director is also a professor at a Bavarian university . The institute employs around ten academic consultants and other administrative, library and secretarial staff.

Publications

The institute publishes a series of monographs to publish its research results .

In addition to the series of monographs, it has been publishing the journal “Contributions to University Research” since 1979. It forms a scientific forum for work from university research and appears four times a year. The "contributions" are aimed at university management, university administrations and ministries , political decision-makers and academics who deal with issues relating to higher education. At the same time, they offer the opportunity to publish scientific articles of up to 20 pages.

An editorial advisory board made up of scientists and stakeholders in the university sector has the task of providing academic support for the conception of the journal. The quality of the published articles is ensured by a review process.
