history

The origin of the family lies in Šebířov. After the Vladiken von Šebířov had acquired the rule of Unter Berschkowitz from the Kaplirz de Sulewicz in 1452 , the family called Beřkovský von Šebířov .

They owned small farms in the Tábor region and, since 1513, Liboch near Mielnik , where Radslav I. Beřkovský ze Šebířova moved his seat.

In 1597, Mikuláš Beřkovský , who had acquired the Košetice estate in 1596 , sold the original seat to the Meissen knight Sigmund Wilhelm von Bellwitz and Nostitz . Mikuláš Beřkovský was killed in 1620 in the Battle of White Mountain . He was married to Anna Juliane von Schwarzburg-Arnstadt .

The Beřkovský were also active in diplomatic functions and stayed at the royal court. After the battle of the White Mountain, they fled and took part in conquest campaigns by the Swedes. The family survived the Thirty Years War and died out with Jan Jaroslav († 1700).

In the Czech Republic today there is an association that remembers the life of the sexes.
