Be-Boy Kidnapp'n Idol (originally written in capital letters) is an original video animation from Studio AIC from 1989. It is about the kidnapping of a young singer by a music producer and can be classified in the genres Shōnen-ai and crime thriller .

content

15-year-old Kazuya Shinohara ( 志 乃 原 和 也 ) is a successful singer ( Japanese idol ), who is desired by many girls. He lives with his friend Akihiko Kudō ( 工藤 秋 彦 ), whom he has known for a long time and who takes care of the childish Kazuya. Akihiko is often cool and reserved, but is very concerned about his friend. After they quarrel, the two are kidnapped. In the predicament of being locked up in a warehouse, Akihiko confesses that he has fallen in love with Kazuya.

Kazuya should be forced to sign a new contract with another management. This company is already notorious for this practice, and for dropping the musicians again after a year. But the president also shows a sexual interest in Kazuya. One of the kidnappers helps Akihiko to escape and save Kazuya shortly before he is raped. Eventually both can flee.

reception

In the Anime Encyclopedia , the anime is referred to as a "comical adventure" of two boys, which has sold mainly because of the well-known voice actors for the two main roles, who appear here in atypical, romantic roles.
