Be a star

Be A Star is the name of the Bulgarian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 . The shows will be broadcast by the TV station BNT .

Preliminary rounds

All entries for the preliminary rounds had to be submitted by September 19, 2008. The artists and composers must be of Bulgarian origin, the language of the song was free.

Between October 2 and December 18, 2008, three entries were selected in nine preliminary rounds from five entries each, one of which was selected by a jury and two others by audience vote. In three quarter-finals, the spectators selected three from each of the nine entries from the preliminary rounds for the semifinals. The following were elected to the semi-finals:

  • Dejan Dschenkow "Imam twoeto ime"
  • Great Wista "Let's Spread Love"
  • Iskra i Mischa Iliew "Dokosni me"
  • Gergana Dimowa "Jasno slanze"
  • Plamen Penew "Daletschen swjat"
  • Emilija Walenti "S teb"
  • Sona "Senki"
  • Tedi Slavcheva feat. Teni & Iwa "Don't Look for Me"
  • Stefan Iltschew "Get Up"

Semifinals

In addition, a jury selected nine entries that made it to the semi-finals:

  • Ivelina "Ready For Love" (5th place in the quarterfinals)
  • Moto "Rasstojanija" (3rd place in the telephone ranking in the preliminary round)
  • Stefan Dobrew "Everlasting Love"
  • Sachara "Don't Kiss For Money" (had been disqualified in the preliminary round)
  • JuraTone feat. Lady B "Chance To Love You"
  • Nora "It's Not Right"
  • Krassimir Avramov "Illusion"
  • Dani Milew "Njama wreme"
  • (Wessela Bonewa - Vessy "Ring The Bells" - later disqualified)
  • Erilien & Najam Sheraz "Don't break my heart" (later submitted)

The semifinals took place on January 24th, and a jury selected 9 of the 18 titles for the final. As expected, the jury only selected one entry (Stefan Iltschew "Get Up"), which was chosen by the audience in the quarter-finals, as well as 8 of the 9 entries selected by the jury for the semifinals (with the moto "Rasstojanija" a contribution that failed in the preliminary round only by the jury evaluation)

In addition, there will be three titles selected by BNT in the final:

In the final, only the spectators decide by telephone vote. Here Krassimir Avramov won with the title Illusion .
