The Beacon Tarn is a lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England . The Beacon Tarn is located at the southern foot of the Beacon Fell in the Blawith Fells west of Coniston Water . The lake has no recognizable tributary. The Tarn Beck forms its drain at the southern end of the lake.

The Beacon Tarn is mentioned in the children's book series Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome as the place where the character of Captain Flint teaches fly fishing .
