Beatriz Madrid is a Mexican choreographer and ballet dancer .

Life

Beatriz Madrid first learned in Mexico with Nina Shestakova , Farahilda Sevilla and Graciela González , from 1981 to 1984 at the London Contemporary Dance School classical dance with Brenda Laast , Ronnie Embland , María Fay and Peter Connel , contemporary dance with Jane Dudley , Viola Farber , William Louther , Pear Lang , Dick Couch and Danny Louis and choreography with Nina Fonaroff . She completed her training with the Ballet De Sandra Rodríguez in Caracas under Hector Zarázpe . In Venezuela she took lessons with Alwin Nikolais , Paul Taylor , Risa Steinberg and Gilberto Ruíz Lang , in Spain with Victor Ullate and in Mexico between 1989 and 1999 with Ezequiel Zelada , Michel Descombey , Silvie Reynaud , Alejandro Mesa , Gladiola Orozco , Federico Castro , Yuriko Kimura and Bernardo Benítez .

In 1978 Madrid was ballerina with the Compañía Nacional de Teatro para Niños under Luis Gonzaga . During her studies in London she appeared in works by Jane Dudley , Viola Farber , William Louther , Maya Milenovich and Kim Branstrup . At the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) led the technique of modern dance by Martha Graham before. She took part in workshops at the school as a solo ballerina and choreographer.

From 1984 to 1988 she was principal ballerina at the Danzahoy - Company in Caracas under Adriana Urdaneta undertook with which it travels through Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Puerto Rico and Mexico. From 1989 to 1999 she was ballerina with the ballet of the Teatro del Espacio under the direction of Gladiola Orozco and Michel Descombey . Here she danced solo roles in works by Descombay, toured with the company to Guatemala and Spain and took part in dance festivals in Latin America.

In 1997 she took over the choreography of the Hoy no Circula project for the Compañía Nacional de Danza . In 1998 she founded the Fóramen M. Ballet with Marcos Ariel Rossi , which she directs with him. The following year she became a choreographer at the Morelos Choreography Center. From 2000 to 2005 she taught at the Escuela Nacional de Danza Clásica y Contemporánea of the Centro Nacional de las Artes . As a dancer and choreographer, she has received several awards from the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA).
