The Beck'sche Universitätsbuchhandlung is one of the oldest publishers and bookshops in Vienna .

history

It was founded in 1724 by a Beck. From 1862 Alfred von Hölder was the owner of the Beck'schen kk Hof- und Universitätsbuchhandlung . Von Hölder's sons, Oskar and Constantin, were partners in this company.

The Beck'sche university bookstore was located at Rotenturmstrasse 13 in the 1st district. Other branches were at Währinger Strasse 49 and one is at Währinger Strasse 12.

The Beck'sche university bookstore is now owned by the Schottentor GmbH bookstore and is the offshoot for mainly natural science books. The focus is on chemistry , physics , medicine , mathematics and biology . There are other selections with special offers for art and Vienna.

The Schottentor bookstore was closed in January 2017, and the Beck'sche University bookstore in Währingerstraße was operated until May 2018.
