Becky! is an email program and is being developed by the Japanese company RimArts in Matsudo City, Chiba . In the early 2000s, it gained recognition in East Asia for its good support for CJKV signs. The German computer magazine c't wrote in 2003: "Becky's view settings are exemplary and make the mailer a safe bet."

The program supports several e-mail accesses and uses the common standard protocols such as POP3 / SMTP or IMAP , with or without SSL , including security features such as APOP and ESMTP . It supports PGP / GnuPG and S / MIME encryption. A large number of plug-ins are also available, e.g. B. for Hotmail or Usenet newsgroups access.

Despite its small size, the program has many useful features, e-mails can be searched according to various criteria, searches are created as virtual folders, mails can be automatically or manually filtered, mailing lists can be managed, etc.

With version 2.50 "Tasks" were introduced, with which planned actions like answers, inquiries or other memory aids can be managed in a simple way.

The IMAP IDLE push email function has been supported since 2010 and version 2.56, which enables resource-saving notification of new emails.

Since version 2.67, easier operation with touch-sensitive screens (from Windows 8) is possible. In addition, the IMAP4 support with servers such as gmx.de and Outlook.com has been improved and the "IMAP QUOTA" function has been added in version 2.71, which can deal with storage space quotas such as. B. on Google Gmail .
