Zoya Lynch (born February 20, 1991 ) is a former Canadian ski jumper .

Career

Lynch, who started for the Altius Nordic Ski Club , made her international debut on July 23, 2004 as part of the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in Park City . Although she already jumped into the points in the first two competitions with 21st and 22nd and thus ranked 37th in the overall ranking, it took two more years until her next start on the same hill. Also in July 2006 she achieved two good placements within the points with the places 20 and 22. Lynch also impressed with two top 20 placements in the jumping competitions in her home town of Calgary .

In her first competitions outside of North America in August 2006, Lynch missed the points in Klingenthal and Pöhla . After a six-month break, she returned to the Continental Cup in February 2007. It was only in the fourth competition in Baiersbronn that she made it back into the points. In her last competition of the 2006/07 season in Schonach in the Black Forest , she managed a good placement, so that in the end she was 41st overall with 56 points.

After she again missed the points in all competitions in Europe in summer 2007, she got good placings again in Lake Placid and Park City. Including 15th place, the best individual ranking of his career. In the winter season 2007/08 started Lynch until February 2008. Breitenberg . In Baiersbronn , she managed to reach the points for the only time in the winter season. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Zakopane in 2008 , Lynch did not get beyond 25th place in individual jumping.

After the 2007/08 season, in which she achieved her best performance of the season with 34th place overall, Lynch ended her active ski jumping career. After retiring, Lynch switched to deep snow skiing and made films about it. She also works as a ski instructor.

Lynch was already involved in the run-up to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver for the authorization and inclusion of women's ski jumping in the Olympic program. For this she moved with her lawyer Ross Clark and other ski jumpers, including Jessica Jerome and Lindsey Van, before the BC Court of Appeals in Vancouver.
