Becoming the Archetype is a progressive - / death metal - band from Atlanta , Georgia . Her name is inspired by a passage from Genesis .

history

The band was founded in 1999 under the name "Nonexistent Failure" and renamed itself in 2003 to "The Remnant". In the same year the band recorded a demo entitled Death, Destruction and Mayhem . A year later, the band released a self-titled album, making the music label Solid State Records took notice of her and under contract took. However, the band gave themselves a new concept and renamed themselves in 2004 to "Becoming the Archetype", whereby the members wanted to expose their religious beliefs. The band toured all over the United States under the new name and released their first album, Terminate Damnation , in late 2005 , which was mastered by Danish producer Tue Madsen . Their style includes a mixture of death metal , metalcore and classical elements. On July 30, 2006, the band announced on their website that guitarist Sean Cunningham was leaving the band to graduate from college. After that he wants to devote himself to a career outside the band, but according to the BTA he will still be available for one or the other musical project of the band. It was also announced that Alex Kenis, guitarist and songwriter for the band Aletheian, will join Becoming the Archetype. The band's second album, The Physics of Fire , was released in 2007. The third opus is called Dichotomy , was produced by Devin Townsend and was released on November 22, 2008 via Solid State Records. The fourth album Celestial Completion was released on March 29, 2011. Thematically it is about the end of the world, but not in the sense of the apocalypse , but full of hope and joy. It was produced by Matt Goldman, who has worked with other big bands such as B. Underoath or The Chariot worked together.
