Bedd Branwen

The Rundcairn Bedd Branwen (also called "Damh teh Bard" or "Queen Branwen's Grave") is located on Afon Alaw northeast of Elim on the island of Anglesey in Powys in Wales .

In the remainder of a burial mound ( Bedd in Welsh ), which probably dates from the Bronze Age (1650 and 1400 BC), the Celtic myth- queen Branwen from the Mabinogion is said to be buried.

The grassy cairn is a hill about 0.5 m high and 20 m wide with a depression in the middle from which a 1.25 m high, 0.75 m by 0.75 m measuring, longitudinally split menhir protrudes. A row of curbs is visible around the outer edge.

Bedd Branwen Period is the name given to Colin Burgess (born 1938) of the Early Bronze Age in Great Britain for the period between 1650 and 1400 BC. BC gave. It follows his Overton period and is replaced by his Knighton Heath period.

The stone was first excavated around 1800. During excavations in the 1960s under the direction of Frances Lynch urns were found, so it is believed that the story of Branwen is based on a true story that took place during the Bedd Branwen period .

The monument of national importance is an important relic of a prehistoric grave and ritual landscape and has an archaeological potential, with a high probability of the presence of intact burial or ritual debris, along with ecological and structural evidence.
