Location of Beemoor in Lower Saxony

Beemoor is a settlement near Arle , a district of the municipality of Großheide in the East Frisian district of Aurich .

The settlement was founded as a colony in 1841. There are several theories about the origin of the name "Beemoor". On the one hand, since 1788 the Arler parish registers have recorded the designation “Beim Moor” for the colony on Dornumer Moorweg (today: Südarle ), which was located in the immediate vicinity of the later Beemoor colony. It is possible that the name “Beemoor” developed from “Beim Moor”. According to other interpretations, the name "Beemoor" originated from "Beerenmoor" or has something to do with the street name "Bedmoor" in the north .

In 1912 Beemoor had 27 residents.
