Südarle is a district of the unified community Großheide in the East Frisian district of Aurich in Lower Saxony .

The place has belonged to Großheide since the regional and administrative reform of July 1, 1972 . Before that he belonged to the municipality of Arle , which became part of Großheide as part of the reform. The village is about 3.5 kilometers from the center of the municipality. The settlement of Südarle began in 1797 south of Arle on the Dornumer Moorweg . In 1848, 252 people lived in the bog colony, spread over 48 houses. In 2005 Südarle had 463 inhabitants.
