Westermoordorf is a district of the unified municipality Großheide in the East Frisian district of Aurich in Lower Saxony . It is located about 1.5 kilometers northwest of Berumerfehn .

history

Since the regional and administrative reform of July 1, 1972, the village has been part of the unified community of Großheide . Before that it belonged to the municipality of Berumerfehn, which became part of Großheide.

The settlement of Westermoordorf began in 1797. In 1848, 378 people lived in the settlement, spread over 74 houses. The moor colony that was founded has had its current name since 1826 , which means either village in the western moor or western village in the moor .
