Beethoven House Gneixendorf
The Beethovenhaus Gneixendorf is related to Schloss Wasserhof in the village of Gneixendorf in the statutory city of Krems an der Donau in Lower Austria . The house is under monument protection ( list entry ).
history
The former Trautingerhof as today's Beethoven House was owned by the Berchtesgaden Abbey together with Wasserhof Castle in the 16th century and both were donated to the Jesuits in Krems an der Donau in 1630 . From 1820 both properties were owned by Johann van Beethoven, Ludwig van Beethoven's brother . The current house is in dire need of restoration and is run as a private museum.
architecture
The core of the cubic building as the so-called Trautingerhof from the 16th century was given a hipped mansard roof in the late 18th century. There are groin vaults on the ground floor .
Furnishing
The elaborate classical furnishings and fittings were created around 1800 and in the early 19th century. Paper wallpapers show romantic landscape painting, pseudo-architecture and pseudo-framing.
