At Yan
Bei Yan ( Chinese 卑 衍 , Pinyin Bēi Yǎn ; * in China ; † 237 ibid) was an officer at the time of the Three Kingdoms (3rd century AD) in ancient China who served the Chinese warlord Gongsun Yuan . After he broke away from his liege lord Cao Rui (Emperor of the Wei Dynasty ) in 237 , he faced his general Sima Yi on the battlefield. He lost the battle and withdrew. Once again he rallied his troops and dared a second attack, but fell after a tough fight in a duel with Wei General Xiahou Ba .
