At the Jakobikirche

Jakobikirchplatz

The short street at the Jakobikirche is located in the historic Rostock city center. It connects the northern section of Apostelstrasse in the west with the northern section of Pädagogienstrasse in the east.

The street was named after the Rostock Jakobikirche , once the parish church of Rostock Neustadt . The alley at the Jakobikirche bounded the church yard of St. Jacobi to the north. On the north side of the street was a building ensemble of Gothic "row houses" from the early 17th century, which were the church houses of this church.

In the nights of bombing at the end of April 1942 , the Jakobikirche burned down completely and the Jakobikirchhäuser were destroyed. In 1960 the remains of the Jakobi ruin were removed, the street name at the Jakobikirche was forgotten.

In 2003, the location of the Jakobikirche, which was called Klaus-Störtebeker-Platz during the GDR era , was redesigned into a memorial park, and the street to the north was renamed Bei der Jakobikirche . Coordinates: 54 ° 5 '21.8 "  N , 12 ° 7' 56.4"  E
