Beidweiler is a village in the Junglinster municipality in Luxembourg .

history

The history of Beidweiler goes back to 930, when there was a parish of the same name. Until the French Revolution, the place belonged to the Echternach monastery . In 1939 a memorial stone was erected to commemorate the centenary of Luxembourg's independence. Beidweiler belonged to Roudemer until January 1, 1979, when the municipalities of Roudemer (Rodenbourg) and Junglinster merged.

Broadcasting Center Europe, a subsidiary of the RTL Group in Beidweiler, has been operating a transmitter system for broadcasting the French-language program RTL on the long-wave frequency of 234 kHz with an output of up to 1,500 kW since 1972 .
