Junglinster ( Luxembourgish Jonglënster ) is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and belongs to the canton of Grevenmacher .

history
The area of the municipality of Junglinster has been inhabited since the earliest times, as numerous finds testify to. A so-called “Heidenstein”, called Häerdcheslee, is located near the road from Altlinster to Godhaben .
Lincera is mentioned in a document as early as 867. The "rule of Linster" is mentioned for the first time in the jury of Esch an der Sauer from the year 1201. The moated castle of the Lords of Linster was in Altlinster.
On July 20, 1944, a Luxembourg resident shot and killed the local group leader of the National Socialist Volksdeutsche movement in Junglinster. In retaliation, Heinrich Himmler ordered the execution of ten uninvolved Luxembourgers in German custody. Three of them were shot at the Uhlrather Hof , the remaining seven in Lingen (Ems) .

Since 1932 there has been a large transmitter near Junglinster for the RTL Group's French-language programming, which is broadcast on long wave . Since 1954, a directional antenna consisting of three freestanding transmission towers ( self-radiating transmission mast ) with a triangular cross-section and a height of 215 meters (until 1980: 250 meters) has been used as the antenna (main beam direction: southwest).
The transmitter in Junglinster has only been an active operating reserve since the more powerful Beidweiler long-wave transmitter went into operation (also on 234 kHz) in 1974. Coordinates: 49 ° 43 '4 " N , 6 ° 15' 38" O . Until May 2011, programs from RTL Radio, KBS World Radio and religious program providers were broadcast from Junglinster on the shortwave frequency of 6095 kHz in DRM mode. On May 1, 2011, this shortwave transmitter was switched off.
