The Beipanjiang Bridge ( Chinese 北 盘 江 特 大桥 , Pinyin Běipánjiāng Tèdàqiáo ; in Chinese also called Nizhu He Daqiao尼 珠 河 大桥 "Great Nizhu He Bridge"; in English also Duge Bridge after the community of the same name in Shuicheng County ) is a 1341 m long cable-stayed bridge in China, which, with its height of 565 m above the valley floor, replaces the Siduhe Bridge as the highest bridge in the world . The last section was added on September 10, 2016. The structure was opened to traffic on December 29, 2016 .
Geographical location
The bridge lies on the border between the provinces of Guizhou and Yunnan and spans the Beipan Jiang valley . It is part of the Hangzhou-Ruili (G56) highway , which connects Liupanshui and Xuanwei . The new construction of this road should reduce the travel time between these cities from five to less than two hours.
Construction and technical data
Construction work began in 2012 with the erection of the pylons . The eastern main pylon reaches a height of 269 m, the western 247 m. The roadway is held in place by stay cables and crosses the river at a height of 565 m. With a total length of 1341 m, the maximum span is 720 m.
