The Bekas Rock (English; Bulgarian скала Бекас skala Bekas ) is a southwest-northeast orientation 140 m long and 60 m wide cliff rock in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 2.63 km southwest of Cape Sheffield , 1.95 km west to south of Ugain Point , 2.73 km northwest of Benson Point and 4.5 km southeast of the larger of the two Eddystone Rocks off the west coast of Rugged Island .
This area was visited by the first seal hunters at the beginning of the 19th century . Bulgarian scientists mapped the rock in 2009. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2018 after the Bulgarian trawler Bekas .
