The Benson Point is a headland , the southwestern end of Rugged Iceland in the archipelago of South Shetland Islands forms.
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the cape in 1958 after the Swedish-American seaman Elof Benson, first mate and logbook keeper on the brig Hersilia , which operated in the waters of the South Shetland Islands from 1819 to 1820 and again from 1820 to 1821.
