BelWü
BelWü stands for Baden-Württemberg's extended LAN and is the network of scientific institutions in Baden-Württemberg . As part of BelWü, the nine state universities , over 25 universities of applied sciences , the eight DHBW locations (the former professional academies and their branch offices) and other scientific institutions are connected to one another via fast data lines. Smaller institutions such as schools, libraries and other public institutions can connect to this network via dial-up or fixed connections.
The DE-CIX (German Commercial Internet Exchange) and MAE FFM (Metropolitan Area Exchange) Internet nodes in Frankfurt / Main are connected via 100 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet, respectively. There is also a commercial upstream to the backbone operator TeliaSonera . The BelWue Autonomous System number is 553.
The BelWü was founded because the DFN association at the federal level was too long in coming.
