The Belarusbank is a bank in Belarus , which is a leader in the Belarusian banking system.

history

In 1987, the Belarusian Republican Bank of the USSR Savings Bank was established, which was transformed into the Savings Bank of Belarus in 1991. In 1995, by decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Sparbank Belarus merged with the joint-stock commercial bank Belarusbank to create ASB Belarusbank.

In 1996 the branch banks Belsvyazbank and Belzheldor became part of Belarusbank. At the same time, the bank became a full member of the Europay International payment system. One year later Belarusbank opened representative offices in Russia (Moscow) and Poland (Warsaw). In 2000 the bank became a full member of the international payment system VISA International. In 2003 Belarusbank established a representative office in Germany (Frankfurt am Main).

In June 2007 Belarusbank established a representative office in Beijing.

In May 2012 Belarusbank became an official member of the World Savings Bank Institute (WSBI) - one of the largest banking associations representing the interests of savings banks and retail banks around the world. In the same year Belarusbank became a partner bank of the Interbank Association, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

On August 16, 2013, a contract was signed to establish the BELKART company. The Bank Processing Center, Belarusbank, Belagroprombank and Belinvestbank acted as founders.

Belarusbank closed its representative office in Poland in 2016 and that in Moscow in 2018.

Ownership and Management

The majority stake in Belarusbank is owned by the State Property Committee of the Republic of Belarus - 98.76% - direct and 1.19% - indirect ownership (administrative districts). Natural persons own 0.0152% of the shares.

The Supervisory Board, headed by Alexander Turchin, has a coordinating function (as of December 2018).

Belarusbank is a universal bank that serves both natural and legal persons and offers investment banking services. More than 80,000 legal entities and sole proprietorships (as of August 2018) are supported. Major customers of the bank are Belarusian oil companies such as Gazprom Transgaz Belarus and Evrotorg.

In terms of the size of the branch network, Belarusbank ranks first among the 10 largest banks in Belarus.

In 2018 the bank's branch network comprised:

  • 1433 banking departments,
  • 138 turning points.

The bank has foreign representative offices in Beijing and Frankfurt am Main.

The bank holding consists of:

  • ASB recreation and spa home Sputnik (100%)
  • ASB Recreation and Spa Home Solnetschnyi (100%)
  • ASB Consult (60%)
  • ASB Broker (the company founder is ASB Leasing).

Mortgage office

Belarusbank opened a mortgage office in February 2018. There, customers are offered real estate loans, both for building and buying new and used apartments.

Belarusbank supports the following projects:

  • “Parental home” - construction of houses for families who raise orphans and children without parental care, help for families living there
  • "Vector of goodness" - the bank supports health institutions, social protection institutions, public associations,
  • "Bridge to the Future" - assistance for teaching and educational institutions, support for the development of children
  • "Let's win together!" - Support for competitive sports, physical culture and a healthy lifestyle
  • “Room of Enthusiasm” - support for art and culture organizations
