The Belida is a sword from Indonesia .

description

The Belida has a slightly curved, single-edged blade. The blades are available in two different basic shapes.

  • The blade is the booklet narrow and becomes a place wider. The blade is slightly bulbous in the local area. The cutting edge is shorter than the back of the blade. The place is cut off at an angle.
  • The blade is of constant width from the handle to the location. Shortly before the local area, the blade becomes a little wider. Two thirds of the blade are straight, the remaining third is slightly curved towards the back of the blade. The place is slightly rounded and resembles the place of European sabers .

The booklet is made of wood and has a curved design in the knob area . It's big enough to be wielded with both hands. At the transition to the blade it is made wider and provided with a sweeping widening (see picture info box). The guard and the ferrule are made of metal and are widened towards the edge. Some versions are decorated with bird feathers on the handle and pommel. The Belida is used by ethnic groups from Indonesia.
