Bell Sports is an American manufacturer of helmets for bicycles , motorcycles and motorsport . The company was founded in 1923 as Bell Auto Parts in Bell ( California founded).
Roy Richter worked for the company from 1933 and bought it in 1945. The first racing helmets were produced from 1954. In 1968 the first full face helmet was presented. From 1971 a production line for motorcycle helmets was also set up. In 1988, the company moved to Rantoul , Illinois , and the California location was closed.
Today, Bell is one of the leading outfitters in motorcycle racing , motor racing and Formula 1 . The Bell HP STAR INFUSION fulfills the FIA conditions for Formula 1.
