Below is a Swedish epic doom band from Nyköping that was founded in 2011.
history
The band was founded in autumn 2011 and initially consisted of three members. In the following years, the group worked on their first songs, which were recorded in November 2012 in the Swedish Deep Blue Studios in the form of an EP, which included four songs. The EP was sent to various magazines and labels and achieved nine out of ten points in the German Metal Hammer . The band then went on a ten-day tour through Denmark , the Netherlands and Germany and also played as the opening act for the Norwegian band Devil . The EP gave the band a contract with Metal Blade Records . In the fall of 2013, the band recorded their debut album at Andy La Rocques (King Diamond) Sonic Train Studios . The album was released in 2014 under the name Across the Dark River .
style
According to the band biography on metalblade.com , the group was heavily influenced by albums such as Nightfall by Candlemass , Headless Cross by Black Sabbath and Conspiracy by King Diamond . In a rock-hard interview with Frank Albrecht, the band stated that they wanted to play Epic Doom and mostly wrote about mythical topics. According to Daniel Silva from metal-temple.com, the band Epic Doom play comparable to the music from Candlemass, although an influence from Kind Diamond can also be heard.
