Belser publishing house
The Belser Verlag in Stuttgart is a publisher founded in 1835 by the bookseller Christian Jakob Belser, which publishes in particular on art and cultural history. Like Kosmos-Verlag, it has been part of the Fleissner Group since 1991 . The official name of the publisher is Chr. Belser Gesellschaft für Verlagsgeschäft GmbH & Co. KG .

Christian Belser (1802–1885) founded the Belsersche publishing and printing company in Stuttgart in 1835 . The business went to Carl Walcker (* 1836) in 1867. His son Carl Walcker junior became a partner. The publishing program consisted of prayer books , sermon books and edifying literature of Protestant theology . From 1960 the publishing house shifted its focus to art-illustrated books and cultural history. Among other things, the Belser Stilgeschichte , a standard work in German-language art history, was published by the publisher. 1983 to 1998 they published facsimile editions in collaboration with the Vatican Library for book treasures from their holdings.
In 2010 there was an exhibition in the Württemberg State Library to mark its 175th anniversary. Regionalia are still another focus, and in 2013 MünchenVerlag was acquired in this area .
Publishing house
From 1913 to 1975 the company was located in its own publishing house on Augustenstrasse (which was completely destroyed in World War II and rebuilt after the war) and from 1992 in the Franckh-Kosmos-Verlag building.
