Beltrami is a town in Polk County , Minnesota , in the United States. It was named after the Italian explorer Giacomo Beltrami , who in 1823 traveled the northern part of what is now Minnesota in search of the source of the Mississippi and lived with the Sioux for a few months . Beltrami is part of the Grand Forks, ND-MN Metropolitan Statistical Area.
