Ben-Ghou-Bey
Ben-Ghou-Bey (born April 23, 1931 in La Verpillière , Isère as Léon Goubet , † December 20, 1990 in Paraguay ) was a French fakir and actor.
biography
Born near Lyon , he became a fakir as a boy and roamed the world for more than 30 years, performing piercing crucifixions and living funeral tricks. In 1979, Wolfgang Larbig, a German doctor, became interested in him and wrote a book, Pain , which tells of his own trials with the fakir.
Ben-Ghou-Bey's life in Paraguay ended with a cerebral haemorrhage.

Ben-Ghou-Bey holds the world record in these feats:
- 4 days with the nailed tongue
- He was crucified 700 times in the course of his life, for which he received a “world champion title” from a fakir association on March 30, 1964.
- In 1963 he was buried in Nice for half an hour.

Paris Interdit is a 1969 film directed by Jean-Louis Van Belle.
The journalist and writer Jean-Luc Coatalem took Ben-Ghou-Bey as a model for his book Fakirssohn .
His son Jean-Luc Goubet wrote two books about him:
