Benjamin Michael Lee (born September 11, 1978 in Sydney , Australia ) is an Australian singer-songwriter and actor . At the age of 14 he started his musical career in the band Noise Addict, but soon after concentrated on a solo career as the band split up. Ben Lee acts as a singer-songwriter. He is mainly a singer but also plays the guitar. He is a multiple winner of the Australian Recording Industry Association's ARIA Awards . In 2007 his last album Ripe was released , which he recorded with producer John Alagia. Benji Madden from Good Charlotte and the Los Angeles-based band Rooney worked on the follow-up to Awake is the new sleep .

Lee also works as an actor from time to time. He starred in the 2003 Australian film The Rage in Placid Lake , directed by Tony McNamara. He is also active in some side projects. With Ben Folds and Ben Kweller he recorded an ep with 4 songs under the name The Bens .
