Rooney is a five-piece American rock band from Los Angeles .
Band history
The name of the band, which is under contract with Geffen , comes from the character of "Principal Ed Rooney" from the movie Ferris makes blue .
Her musical style is shaped by reminiscences of the music of the last 40 years, and comparisons with The Beatles , The Cars or Blur are often strained. Other influences include The Kinks , Ramones and The Doors . The band has supported The Strokes , Weezer and Kelly Clarkson as opening act on their tours. In 2004 they made a guest appearance on the series OC, California , and their song "Blueside" can be found on the soundtrack to Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 .
The second album, Calling The World, was announced for October 2006 in the United States, but the date was postponed to June 2007. The album was released in Germany on September 28, 2007. While their single When Did Your Heart Go Missing? , with which they also achieved notoriety in Germany, reached number 17 in the German single charts and number 1 in the airplay charts, the album Calling the World only made it to number 94.
