from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ben Moon (born June 13, 1966 ) is an English sport climber , filmmaker and entrepreneur.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he was one of the world's best sport climbers and the first to climb numerous difficult climbing routes . At the age of 18 he was able to climb the Route Statement of Youth (8a French) for the first time. With Hubble at Raven Tor in the Peak District, he managed the world's first route with grade 8c + (French) , according to Adam Ondra , the route can even be rated 9a (French). He became known through his two first ascents Maginot Line and Agincourt (both 8c French) in France in 1989. Both routes were tried by local climbers for years, but could not be climbed. When he succeeded, he provocatively named the routes after French defeats in history. In 2004 he founded the climbing equipment company Moon and later S7 . In 2015, by repeating the Rainshadow route, he succeeded in another route in grade 9a French.
