Hubble (climbing route)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hubble is the name of a climbing route in Great Britain in the Peak District , which is rated with the degree of difficulty (8c + French, E9 / 7b English). At the time of the first ascent in 1990 it was probably the most difficult route in the world. The route is located in the Raven Tor ( Raven Rock) climbing area just off the road between Buxton and Tideswell in Derbyshire .

The short ( boulder-like ) route consists of nine difficult moves and had already been climbed in technical climbing before Ben Moon managed to climb the route freely on June 13, 1990 .

Alexander Megos repeated the route in 2016, making him the only one who knows both Hubble and the Route Action Directe (XI (UIAA), 9a (French)). In comparison, he rated Hubble as easier and left open an upgrade of the difficulty rating to 9a (French) by Hubble, which was under discussion.
