Ben Whale

Ben Whale (born August 21, 1993 in Bern , real name Nicolas Benjamin Walpoth ) is a Swiss dialect musician .

Whale has been a singer, rapper and producer in the Swiss hip-hop scene since 2016 . His EP Pussy $ ounds made him first known in Switzerland.

Ben Whale is considered a pioneer of dialect R&B and produces his songs as an accepted player in the Swiss music scene.

Life

Ben Whale was born in 1993 under the real name Nicolas Benjamin Walpoth, the son of a Swiss father and a Turkish mother in Bern. In an interview with Schweizer Rundfunk , he mentioned that he was introduced to early music education at the age of 3. Whale also explained that through his piano lessons at the conservatory in Bern he first learned to play the piano before he could even read.

Musical career

EP Pussy $ ounds

On January 24, 2016, Whale released his EP Pussy $ ounds on the Bandcamp platform . The EP was produced by CM (real name Jonathan E. Bolliger) and Whale. Pussy $ ounds earned Ben Whale the award for Best Breaking Act in late 2017 .

EP sonar

On November 2, 2018 published Whale about the label Knackeboul Entertainment 's RnB / Soul - Playlist Sonar . On the day of publication, the lyrics magazine said: “Swissraps next Topmodel creates stunning atmospheres and lets the spherical sonar sounds flow directly into the beats, creating a trippy oeuvre with an infectious vibe. His style remains somewhere between 'rapper who sings his own refrains', classic courtship R'n'B singer and autotune virtuoso. The productions sound like I imagine contemporary R'n'B: sticky slow BPMs, warm chords that clash with cool basses and a fluid change from (rap) verses to vocal hooks. "
