Benedikt Kiær (born December 10, 1969 in Gentofte ) is a Danish politician of the Det Conservative Folkeparti (KF) party. From February 2010 to October 2011 she was the social minister of her country. Since January 2014 she has been the mayor of Helsingør .

Life

Kiær joined the KF in the early 1990s. In 1995 she graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Copenhagen . Between 1995 and 2001 she studied political science there . From 1999 to 2000 she worked as a student assistant in the Danish Ministry of Finance. She then worked as a communications consultant in various positions until 2009. From 2007 she was a member of the KF party committee. In 2009 she took over the post there as second deputy party leader.

After a government reshuffle, Kiær was appointed Minister of Social Affairs in the Lars Løkke Rasmussen I government on February 23, 2010 . She held the post until the end of the government on October 3, 2011. From September 2011 to the end of December 2013 she sat in the Danish parliament, the Folketing . There Kiær became the political spokeswoman for her group. In June 2012 it was announced that Kiær would be a candidate for mayor in the 2013 local elections in Helsingør , which is why she gave up her post as political spokeswoman. On January 1, 2014, she took over the office of Mayor of Helsingør. She was re-elected in 2017.

She is married and has two kids.
