Benito Lynch (born July 25, 1885 in Buenos Aires , † December 23, 1951 in La Plata ) was an Argentine writer.

life and career

Lynch came from a wealthy background; his family came from Galway, Ireland, from where his ancestor Patrick Lynch emigrated to Argentina in the 18th century. Lynch spent his childhood and adolescence on his grandparents' extensive country estate. The whole property was later sold and the family settled in the newly formed town of La Plata.

Lynch has occasionally been compared to Emily Dickinson as an eccentric . Throughout his life he lived in his family home with his two unmarried sisters, with whom he had only irregular contact. Apart from his interest in sports (mainly football), he was not interested in the social or political life of his surroundings.

Many of his quirky and bizarre short stories first appeared in newspapers and magazines, such as " La Nación ", "El Hogar", "Caras y carets", "Leoplán" and the like. a. Later they were put together into various anthologies by himself or by other editors.

At the age of 66, Benito Lynch died on December 23, 1951 in La Plata, where he found his final resting place.
