Benjamin Maerz

Benjamin Maerz (born April 3, 1988 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German chef .

Life

Benjamin Maerz grew up in Bietigheim-Bissingen , where his parents have been running the hotel and restaurant Rose in the city center since 1989. After graduating from high school in 2007, he did his community service in the community of Nordheim in environmental and nature conservation.

In 2008 he began training as a chef in his parents' company until January 2010, which he completed with distinction. After the sudden death of his father in 2010, Benjamin Maerz first took over the kitchen management, and in early 2011 he also took over the management of the company together with his mother. While still doing this, he decided to do a dual course of study at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Mosbach , Campus Bad Mergentheim in the field of food management, which he completed in September 2013 with a bachelor's degree.

In August 2013, Benjamin Maerz and his brother Christian completely took over the family business, with his brother being responsible for the wine cellar and the restaurant management. In May 2013, he was voted one of the twelve greatest young talents in the German-speaking region and therefore took part in the Chefs Next Generation in Cologne in September 2013.

In November 2013, the Rose restaurant received its first star in the Michelin Guide . This makes Maerz Germany's youngest head chef in a Michelin-starred restaurant. The restaurant has since been renamed in March .
