Benotto is a Mexican bicycle manufacturer based in Mexico City .
history
The company was founded in 1931 by Giacinto Benotto in Turin , Italy . As early as the 1930s, Benotto was able to manufacture up to 500 bicycles a day in economically difficult times.
In 1952, Benotto and his family moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, and continued his bicycle production there under the old name. He immediately managed to gain a foothold in the Mexican market and a year later he moved his company to Mexico City . From there he was soon able to make a name for himself again internationally.
Cycling
Numerous successful cyclists rode Benotto bikes, including Vito Ortelli , Cino Cinelli , Antonio Bevilacqua , Aldo Ronconi , Eddy Merckx , Greg LeMond and Gregor Braun .
In 1968, Ole Ritter improved the hour record on a Benotto track bike in Mexico City . Francesco Moser became professional road world champion with a Benotto bike in San Cristóbal (Venezuela) in 1977 .
production
The company mainly manufactures road bikes and track bikes . Components mainly from Campagnolo but also from Shimano are installed on the frame, and the wheels are fitted with Rigida or Mavic rims.
