The Benser Tief is a sluice train that leads far into the inland , flows into the North Sea in the East Frisian coastal town of Bensersiel and drains the marshes to the south . The average width at the mouth of the Benser Tief is 15 to 25 meters. The length of the Benser Tief is around 13 kilometers. Sielacht Esens is responsible for the maintenance of the Benser Tief .

Today the Benser Tief is mainly used by anglers and is considered to be rich in fish. The main catches are pike , pikeperch , perch , eel , roach and other types of fish. To a small extent there is water sports by canoeing. For the last few kilometers, a cycle path leads right next to the Benser Tief to Bensersiel. Navigable is the Benser depth only on a short section from the port Bensersiel to the North Sea.
