Bentong

Bentong (also: Bentung ) is a city in Malaysia . It had 40,775 inhabitants at the 2000 census. The city is the capital of an administrative district of the same name, 1831 km² ( daerah ).

Bentong is located about 50 km northeast of Kuala Lumpur , the capital of the Asian country, in the state of Pahang . The city is separated from the metropolitan area of ​​Kuala Lumpur by the Main Range , the mountain ridge that runs through the Malay Peninsula in a north-south direction, and is located near the Genting Highlands , a recreational area.

Important local industries are the extraction, handling and processing of rubber and tin .
