Observer status
The observer status describes the status of a person , belonging to a committee or an organ only as an observer . This learns what the committee decides and can also argue. However, she has no decision-making powers.
For example, Germany and France have sent delegates to the other cabinet who have observer status.
Observer status at the United Nations
The Holy See and Palestine currently have observer status as non-member states at the United Nations , which allows them to participate as observers in the work of the General Assembly and to have a permanent observer mission at UN headquarters . Palestine's status was upgraded from an observing entity to an observing non-member state on November 29, 2012 .
From 1946, shortly after the founding of the United Nations on October 24, 1945, until its accession on September 10, 2002, Switzerland had observer status at the same.
The Sovereign Order of Malta , as an original non-state subject of international law, has had the status of a permanent observer at the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York City since August 24, 1994 .
