Mountþór Ólason

Bergþór Ólason (German transcription Bergthor Olason , born September 26, 1975 in Akranes ) is an Icelandic politician of the Center Party , who formerly belonged to the Independence Party .

Life

Bergþór Ólason holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Iceland and holds a degree in Management from Manchester Business School . From 2003 to 2006 he was assistant to the then Icelandic Minister of Transport Sturla Böðvarsson . He was on the board of various companies and institutions. As a member of the Independence Party , he was a candidate in the 2007 and 2009 parliamentary elections .

In the parliamentary elections on October 28, 2017 , Bergþór Ólason was elected as a candidate of the Center Party for the Northwestern constituency in the Icelandic parliament Althing . As of December 2018, he is Deputy Group Chairman of the Center Party, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Transport and a member of the Icelandic delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe .

As a result of the Klaustur affair at the end of November 2018, Bergþór Ólason took an unpaid leave of absence from the Althing until further notice; in the meantime Jón Þór Þorvaldsson officiated as a substitute. Bergþór returned to parliament on January 24, 2019.
